WKU RB Keshawn Simpson is out for Saturday

Alabama's first opponent Michigan was without its starting running back last week and the same goes for the Tide's second opponent Western Kentucky, who will head to Tuscaloosa sans starting running back Keshawn Simpson, who injured his knee last week.

Different opponent, same problem.

Last week when Alabama beat Michigan 41-14, the Wolverines were without their top running back Fitz Toussaint. This week, the Crimson Tide faces Western Kentucky in their home opener and the Hilltoppers will also be without their No. 1 running back, Keshawn Simpson.

One of the team’s many veterans, Simpson, a junior, hurt his left knee in WKU’s season opener last Saturday against Austin Peay and won’t play, per the College Heights Herald.

Simpson ran for 60 yards before the injury.

Junior Antonio Andrews will start instead and will be backed up by freshman Leon Allen.

According to the student newspaper, other Hilltoppers who could miss the matchup against Alabama are cornerback Jamal Forrest and wide receivers Joel German and Tyler Higbee. All three have shoulder injuries.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban mentioned this week that the only Tider in question for Saturday is freshman linebacker Reggie Ragland (ankle). Other previously injured players—Jesse Williams (minor concussion), Robert Lester (shoulder stinger), Tana Patrick (undisclosed) and Trey DePriest (ankle)—all practiced this week.
