Kamara adds Western Kentucky offer

Jamil Kamara, the No. 16 ranked wide receiver in the Scout.com Class of 2014 rankings, received an offer from Western Kentucky on Jan. 9.

It didn't take long for new WKU head coach Bobby Petrino to hand out his first major scholarship offer.

Jamil Kamara, the No. 16 ranked wide receiver in the Scout.com Class of 2014 rankings, received an offer from Western Kentucky on Jan. 9.

The four-star prospect said he's being recruited to the Hilltoppers by new wide receivers coach Lance Thomas.

"He (Thomas)'s real cool," Kamara said. "We have a pretty close relationship.

"Whenever he ended up there (at WKU), he told Coach (Bobby) Petrino about me and they decided to offer me."

Although the 6-foot-2, 195 pound wide receiver doesn't know much about WKU yet, he said he knows all about Petrino's success at other stops.

"Man, I heard he (Petrino) has the best passing offense," Kamara said. "It's crazy how well his teams do.

"Now that I've gotten an offer from them, I'll definitely have to watch them play next year."

Virginia, UNC, Tennessee, Clemson, Michigan, Boston College, NC State, Vanderbilt are among some of the other top schools recruiting Kamara.

The No. 16 wide receiver in the Class of 2014 said he doesn't have a visit planned to WKU at this time, but that he does hope to schedule one at some point in his recruitment.

In this PrepNC.com story, Kamara said he wants to have a trimmed list of ten schools by the end of January, before cutting the list to five by the end of his junior year.

Kamara also said he wants to make a commitment before the beginning of his senior season.
