Toppers land JUCO All-American

First team junior college All-American Jarekious Bradley hopes to help WKU win "multiple" NCAA tournament games.

Jarekious Bradley can't wait for his new start.

After earning first team NJCAA Division 1 All-American honors at East Mississippi College in 2012-13', Bradley verbally committed to Western Kentucky on June 12.

"I talked about it with my family and then I decided to commit," he said. "They said they were happy and wanted me to be somewhere that was the best fit for me, somewhere that can take me to the next level.

"I talked to coach (Ray) Harper and he seemed really excited. He said he couldn't wait to get me up there, start working out, stuff like that. I can't wait to get up there myself, after I finish my summer classes I'm set."

The 6-foot-5 guard/forward averaged 21.1 points per game at EMCC, shooting 50 percent overall from the field, including 38.6 percent from 3-point range and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.

He also contributed 7.8 rebounds per game during the 2012-13' season.

The junior college All-American is the first commitment for new WKU assistant coach Shawn Forrest.

"He (Forrest) is a good guy," Bradley said. "He's been recruiting me since he was at Louisiana-Lafayette.

"Then he went to WKU and we continued talking, I ended up visiting and loved it. Him, Coach Harper, all the coaches, they're great."

Western Kentucky fans will see the new Hilltopper play the small forward position, and possibly some at power forward.

"My skillset is like a '3' (small forward) or a '4' (power forward,)" Bradley said. "I can post up smaller guys, but I can also take on bigger guys on the perimeter.

"I just felt like it (WKU) was a good fit for me. I plan on getting up there and helping them win NCAA tournament games, that's the plan. I can't wait to be a part of their program."
