Kessinger ready for July

Kessinger ready for July

2015 forward has been on Western Kentucky's radar for over a year. Read his latest inside.

Most recruits are escorted on a campus tour when visiting a college, viewing the facilities, dorm life and more of their potential future home.

But Corydon Central (Ind.) forward Bronson Kessinger has visited Western Kentucky so many times now, he's able to give the tours himself.

The 2015 forward showed his high school teammates around when they were on WKU's campus for team camp over the June 21 weekend.

"It was fun," Kessinger said. "I don't really have any favs, but I really, really like the Hill."

Averaging 17.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game his junior year, the forward is staying open-minded about his recruitment entering the crucial July evaluation period.

College coaches are allotted three weekends in July to watch recruits play, their last opportunity to make evaluations until Sept. 9.

Scheduled for July to play at the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis (Ind.,) Under Armour Finals in Atlanta (Ga.,) and the AAU Super Showcase in Louisville, Kessinger plans to start narrowing his list after the busy month.

Regardless of how he plays in July though, expect the Toppers to stay in serious contention for his recruitment.

"I hear from them (WKU) pretty much every other day," Kessinger said. "I'm gonna play my last three AAU events and see what happens with recruiting after July."

Scout national analyst Evan Daniels watched the 2015 forward play at the Kentucky/Indiana Junior All-Star Classic in June.

"I think he (Kessinger) is a solid mid-level prospect," Daniels said. "Checks in at about 6-foot-7, plays hard, solid athletically.

"Will rebound his area, has good hands and touch. Will face up and drive some, and appears to be gaining comfort on the block."

Kessinger plans to sign his binding National Letter-of-Intent during the NCAA's fall signing period, between Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.

WKU fans around the Louisville area can watch him play in the AAU Super Showcase at the Kentucky Exposition Center, July 22-28.
