Hilltopper Notes: The game is homecoming for Bowling Green State and they will be fired up and ready to put on a show for their fans. The Falcons love to pass the ball and they have the quarterback and receivers to do it. The Hilltopper defense must get pressure on the quarterback and not give him time to pick the secondary apart.

The defense is without SR #10 Marion Rumph but SR #20 Clay Stephens is ready to step in and play. Stephens is not a rookie but a SR that has logged plenty of playing time during his years on the Hill. The defense will be fine. As potent, as Bowling Green’s offense is a shutout is asking a lot of any defense. However, the Hilltopper defense is fast, aggressive and disciplined with a lot of pride. With SR leaders #13 Andre Lewis, #53 Dusty Bear,  #5 Bo Smith and #91 Chris Walker,  the defense will be ready and play tough.

The offense, regardless if it is #7 K.J. Black or #3 David Wolke under center, should be productive. The Falcons gave up 35 points and 401 yards of offense to Temple. 102 yards of that total was in the running game, a WKU strength. I expect #1 Tyrell Hayden to have another great game. If the Hilltoppers can establish the running game it will give better opportunities for #15 Curtis Hamilton and #86 Quinterrance Cooper to make plays in the passing game. WKU executes a balanced offensive attack and we should score points.

With PK #83 Chris James and P #44 Jeremy Moore, special teams should remain consistent and dependable to come through when needed.

The Hilltoppers must sustain drives and move the chains. Bowling Green’s pass happy offense will wear a defense out. Three and outs will put the ball back in the hands of a potent offense and keep the defense on the field. We have to have sustained drives and not allow the defense to be field on the field all day. WKU has a solid offensive line and we can definitely be successful driving the football.

This is another big game in a hostile environment. Head Coach David Elson has the Hilltoppers confident and ready to take another step toward making history.
