The Hilltoppers earned their seventh win of the season with a 52 to 12 dismantling of Morehead State.

On a gorgeous fall afternoon and after honoring the WKU seniors, The Hilltoppers played their last home game of the 2007 season.

Morehead State drew first blood receiving the opening kickoff and driving down the field for the touchdown. After fumbling the snap on the PAT attempt, MSU held a 6 to 0 advantage. Unfortunately, for the Eagles, football is a four-quarter game. They would not threaten to score again until less then three minutes remained in the fourth quarter and the game well out of reach.

The Hilltoppers dominated every phase of the game.

Offensively WKU scored through the air and the on the ground. SR Curtis Hamilton set the Hilltoppers all time receiving yards record and had a career day with 219 total yards and 3 touchdowns. RB Tyrell Hayden had another impressive day totaling 151 yards on 16 carries and 1 touchdown. SR PK Chris James became the all time career points leader in WKU history and secured his legacy as being on of the best PK in Hilltopper history.

The Hilltopper defense woke up after the first drive and dominated the MSU offense the rest of the day. MSU ended the game with only 39 rushing yards and 246 total yards. With the game getting away from MSU early, the Eagles went to the air often but were just as unsuccessful as on the ground. SR LB Dusty Bear, JR DB Brad Cloud and FR DL Kyle Anderson each recorded an interception. JR LB Alonzo Higgins scooped up an Eagle fumble and rambled 41 yards for a touchdown with 1:18 left until halftime. Higgins play made the score 38 to 6 and the game virtually over by halftime. SR LB Andre Lewis led the defense with four solos and six assists followed by SR LB Dusty Bear two solos six assists and JR DB Marcus Minor three solos and four assists.

As the game clock ticked down to zero, Head Coach David Elson received a Gatorade bath and celebration broke out on the WKU sidelines. The Hilltoppers earned their seventh victory of the season and the seniors will always remember they won their last game played at Houchens Industries L.T. Smith Stadium.

WKU has one game left to play next Saturday when the team travels to Texas to play their final game against North Texas.
