The Hilltoppers land their first two commitments for the 2008 recruiting class.

The Hilltoppers land their first two commitments for the 2008 recruiting class. WKU landed two verbal commitments this past weekend. Offensive linemen Seth White and Adam Smith gave their verbal to play their college ball for the Hilltoppers.

I caught up with Seth and Adam this evening and talked to them about their decisions to verbal to WKU.

Adam Smith is very excited and sure of his verbal commitment to WKU. I asked Adam how he felt now that he has committed to WKU and he was fired up in his response.

"I am very happy with my decision to play for WKU. The reason I committed to WKU was a little bit of everything. It’s a great place and I am very excited with my decision to go to WKU. The program is on the rise, I love the coaches and seeing what the facilities are going to look like when they are finished really impressed me. I also went to camp at WKU last summer and I got to work with or I should say he worked me, Coach (Walter) Wells, which will be my position in coach at WKU. I really like Coach Wells and I am looking forward to playing for him." The 6'5" 275 OL played his HS football at Blackman HS, TN. Adam says he is solid with his decision and has an ACT score of 24 and a GPA of 3.1 so he should not have a problem qualifying academically.

OL Seth White gave his verbal commitment to the Hilltoppers. Seth visited WKU on homecoming and watched the Hilltoppers play against the Troy Trojans. Seth came away impressed and is very happy had his commitment.

"WKU has a beautiful campus. I really like the conference and the competition WKU will play next year on their schedule. The program is on the up and up and they are division one now. They played Troy good and almost pulled it off. Troy is the defending Sun Belt Champion and WKU almost beat them. Fans were pumped up and I love the campus and the coaches. My parents love WKU and like that it is close to home and they can watch me play."

This talented offensive lineman is a Donelson Christian Academy HS, TN product. Seth says he is solid with his decision, scored 24 on the ACT, and has a 3.4 GPA. He should not have a problem qualifying academically.

Although verbal commitments are not binding, these two outstanding young offensive linemen are a great start for the class of 2008.

As the 2007 football season beings to wind down recruiting will definitely heat up.

Stay tuned this week for more updates concerning players that have interest in playing for the Hilltoppers.
