He's not the tallest cornerback you'll find throughout the Sunshine State, but it's hard to imagine another defensive back that plays with the passion and heart of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland standout, Meiko Dotson.
The 5-foot-9.5, 175-pound three-star prospect is equipped with scholarship offers from the likes of Wisconsin, South Florida, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Bowling Green, while a host of others are in still in the evaluation process.
The University of South Florida is an in-state program who extended a scholarship offer to Dotson earlier in the year, and remain in good standing with the cornerback, who's visited their campus multiple times.
Joining several of his teammates at Mainland High School, Dotson participated in the Bulls' Sling n Shoot 7-on-7 Tournament on Saturday afternoon and rarely had a ball completed on him when the offense took a shot down the field.
"It's been good and everyone is out here giving all they've got and trying to win," Dotson said. "(My biggest strength is my) coverage. I can cover real good."
Dotson has an additional opportunity to put on a show in front of South Florida's coaches on Sunday, but there's a pair of schools who'll be hosting him on their respective campuses in the coming weeks as well.
"I'm going to Georgia Tech and I'm going to Friday Night Lights (at Florida) on July 25."
All schools are on a level playing field for Dotson, who's hoping to make his commitment a couple games into his senior season.
